I bought a Notesbog journal

I love fore-edge painted books and was happy to see the trend is coming back beyond the gold edged kind.

When I was in Europe I discovered a store called flying tiger Copenhagen. I dismissed it when I walked past (there was a lot of pastel and pink), but then something caught my eye and I explored. It's a neat store, a lot of new design. It's somewhere between great dollar store and I've never seen this before. I thought it was geared toward children and teens but it had a few decent finds.

The store is marketed as a treasure hunting store, which is exactly what it is.

The paper is too thin for my liking, but for notes and ideas journaling, I liked this light weight flexible black vinyl Notesbog. Designed in Denmark, made in China.

Makes me smile.

  1. It makes me Smile too and I can't say I've ever seen Books with that kind of Edging, it's Lovely. I've only ever seen Gilded Edging, and on very Old Books a kind of wavy less Colorful Edging sometimes.

      Right?!
I'm into book art as well. The wavy is called decked. Gold is very common for those vintage inspired but they're starting to produce a lot of them. Today I saw a fiction book with night sky edging.
I've never seen it on a notebook and it's very easy to find, if I misplace it.

  3. Fore edge book art. I had seen some images of old books with scenes painted on but just now did n image search for such. some pretty amazing images and apparently it's an industry, a segment of the arts. You can get someone to paint a scene on your book, or order a book that's been painted.

    1. Codex: I KNOW. I'm enamored. I came across that renewed industry recently. It's incredible. I am not into antique books (the smell) but love what's restarting. Except how would you display them other than flat as a coffee table book?
