I post in draft. I avoid key terms and stopped correcting auto insert because it started doing some strange things a few years ago. It makes some of my posts hard to read.
I will type in certain words finish the sentence only to find those words replaced. Then go back to correct it several times before giving up. It's too time consuming.
The words are either more eloquent versions of a word or scientific.
Eg. Wrote about a cartoon character Gary the snake and his cute epipen (how clever if he accidentally bites someone) and it kept changing to epicenter. (No mention of earth quakes in that post)
So that's how ai is making everyone sound stupid.
In real life I had to listen to another opinion that made me stare off into space (don't argue say nothing). A store owner I'm friendly with talked about the changing weather and seasons. So far so good. It is fall. That statement is true. Then she told me that she looks forward to spring a time for renewal. Also true.
Then she told me that the reason people have dry skin in the winter is so that the skin can renew itself in the spring. (Not the right cause and effect)
How do you know that? She read it online. So we shed skin like snakes? I wondered...(zip it codex just zip it)
This is what the internet has done to people. This is what I've had to listen to.
I nodded. In the past I would have told her that skin renews itself all the time. That heating dries skin in the winter. That it's less perfused (replaced by perfumed) because our bodies keep us warm and less blood circulates to the skin. That we can't lock in moisture very well.
Instead I did what scientist friends told me to do in 2023 stop educating. No one is excited about knowledge or facts anymore. The sign of dark times; superstition religion pseudoscience and not so deep thoughts.
It's depressing.
For some reason her belief reminded me of the Theseus thought experiment. Is a ship still the same ship if all it's parts are replaced? It came up in visionquest and the answer is no. But it doesn't apply to human bodies or memories which we model ai on.
I digress.
Knowledge is power. We're not born with knowledge beyond a few instincts. we need to learn and be taught and if our collective knowledge is replaced then look what we've become.
I need chocolate.
